Wednesday Night Supper

What better way to have fellowship and get to know someone than to sit around a table and share a meal.

We have a fellowship dinner every Wednesday night (we schedule according to the Newton County school calendar).  A delicious and modestly priced dinner is served at 5:30pm in the Fellowship Hall.  Reservations are necessary and must be made by 3:00pm on Mondays to assure enough food is prepared. You may complete the reservation card in the pew on Sunday morning or call the church office at 770-786-7305 or email Jennifer Morganthall at jennmorganthall@gmail.com.   Nursery is provided for children ages birth through two years old and for older children of Dinner Chefs only up through the dinner hour.

Covington FUMC Hosts
Cub Scouts, Browines and
Girl Scout Troops

On Tuesday evenings Cub Scouts meet at our church in the church fellowship hall for Pack Meetings and break up into smaller groups for Den Meetings.  Any of the activities the troops do are activities that their entire families can join in and be a part.
During the week we have 7 different Girl Scout Troops that meet at Covington FUMC.
Along with the many projects Scouts do throughout the year they also participate in Scout Sunday at a Sunday Worship Service and also help with our
Church Food Pantry.

Family Camping Trip

Every fall families from FUMC go on a weekend camping trip.  They pick a different state park every year. It is a great time to get away, enjoy your family and your church family, reflect, laugh, fellowship and grow closer to God.
They hold a service on Sunday mornings around the camp fire out in God’ great kingdom.

The United Methodist Men meet on the first Thursday of each month at 7:00pm in the Fellowship Hall for a light supper and a program.

United Methodist Women
John Wesley once wrote:

"Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can,
To all the people you can, As long as ever you can."

It is almost as if John Wesley set out to write a creed specifically for United Methodist Women.  This poem expresses all that we, as UMW, believe in, which is in two words, WE CAN.  WE CAN have an impact on Missions, both abroad and at home. WE CAN have an impact on our Church and its goals for the present and future. But just as importantly, WE CAN have an impact on our own UMW members. WE CAN make a difference in other individual lives by taking a little time to make a difference in the world of missions.

The “Mission Statement” for the United Methodist Women is as follows:
The organized unit of United Methodist Women shall be a community of women whose purpose is to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church.
If you are not currently a member of UMW, we urge you to seek out a Circle and get to know us.  We have four circles in our Church, three night Circles and one day Circle:
 · The Callie Cohen Circle meets on the first Tuesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. at the Church.

· The Bobbie Banks Circle meets on the third Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. at the Church.

· The Lillian Everitt Circle meets on the third Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. at the Church.

· The Sallie Fowler Circle meets on the second Monday of the month at 7:00 p.m. in different member’s homes.

United Methodist Women is a one-million member organization whose purpose is to foster growth, develop leaders and advocate for justice.  Members raise approximately $25 million per year for programs and projects related to women, children and youth in the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world.  Plus one receives the added bonus of developing a special bond with the other women within our church.  We could not be prouder of what we have accomplished and can accomplish together, and we welcome you to join us.
The UMW does many projects during the year. Some of their activities are:
· Honoring the new born babies
· Soup and Salad Luncheons
· Collect Health Kits
· Father/Daughter Dance
· Mother/Daughter Banquet
· Scholarships for Preschool
· Support Battered Women Shelter
· Support Children’s Home
· Give money to Church Projects

This group offers fellowship for Seniors.  They enjoy pot luck lunches on the second Wednesday of each month which is followed by a program and occasional day trips.  We do not card for age and welcome anyone who wants to join us.
