Kye Haymore,
Children's  Director
All of our children's ministry areas and Sunday School classes have dedicated teachers who will go the extra mile to teach our children about Jesus Christ. We believe that Sunday School and Children’s Church as well as music is a very important part of a child's Christian education and we invite everyone to participate. We have many opportunities for spiritual growth and fellowship for our children at FUMC.
Kye Haymore, our Children’s Director, can be reached in her office at 770-786-7305.  Her email is khaymore@fumccovington.org.

Children Led Worship:  Once a year, our children are responsible for the entire worship service except for the sermon.  This is a chance for the  children to have hands on participation in a traditional worship service.

Children’s Church:  All children are welcome to participate in any of our worship services.  However, we do provide Children’s Church for children ages 3 through 1st Grade.  The children leave the Sanctuary after the children’s sermon and they proceed to Children’s Church where they learn even more about the opportunities that God’s love provides.

Sunday School:  Sunday School is a vital part of growth as a Christian.  Sunday school classes in the children’s department are available for 3 year olds through 5th Graders and are led by volunteers of abiding faith.

Wackey Wonderful Wednesday: At 5:15pm on Wednesday afternoons we have a
program involving music, lessons, fun
and dinner for children from the ages of 4 years old through the 5th grade. The music and lessons are a thematic unit. This program is designed to provide our children with spiritual growth and teach them about being Methodist. We have three different children's choir divided up by age groups. The children's choir sing during worship the 11:00am worship hour through out the year. Several times a year the children perform special programs and plays. For details about the Music Program

Nurseries: Nurseries are provided during the Sunday School hour and the Worship Services for newborns through two year olds. The nurseries are staffed with loving and caring individuals who truly delight in our children.

Confirmation Class:  We hold a eight week Confirmation Class for 5th graders with the culmination being confirmation of these young people into our Church as full members. These classes are taught the Senior Pastor, Youth Pastor and Children's Director.  At the end of the classes a special service is held on Sunday mornings to Confirm these young people. They are given a hand painted stole to have as a remembrance of this special day.

Funtastic Fridays for Families: An opportunity, approximately every other month, for families to join together for food and fellowship with activities that are created with families in mind.

Special Activities Throughout The Year:

· Easter Egg Hunt
 · Blessing of the Backpack Service
· Halloweenie Roast
· Christmas Musical/Live Nativity
· Hanging of the Green Activities
· Field Trips
· Mission Projects
· Secret Santa Shop

Acolytes and Cross Bearers: Acolytes and Cross Bearers are very important part of our worship services. Children go through training when they become 5th graders and learn the importance and reasons why we as Methodist bring the Cross and Light in the Church and take it  out at the end of worship. It is a high privilege to serve as an Acolyte.

Date Nights:  The Church provides parents the opportunity to spend time alone on a date.  The belief is that a strong marriage produces a strong family.

Vacation Bible School:  VBS is a week long outreach event for the children of our Church and an opportunity to reach out to the multitude of children in our community.  VBS is a massive event that is the culmination of a year’s worth of hard work and planning.
